Abstract

The article describes some methodological features of the study of the economics of the mining industry in the context of national security. The nonrenewable nature of solid minerals and the uneven distribution of their reserves, the uniqueness and impossibility of replacing many raw materials, the discrepancy, including territorial, between supply and demand for them, large-scale and resource-intensive production, a high degree of vertical integration, close ties with other sectors of the economy, the economic and city-forming nature of enterprises all this determines the need, in the case of mining economics, to supplement classical industry analysis with political economic and macroeconomic methods. A number of patterns and dependencies have been identified, on the basis of which the priority directions for the development of the mining industry economy of the Republic of Belarus in the context of national security are determined.

The conclusion about the necessity of harmonisation rather than forced disparate satisfaction of the interests of the actors of economic relations is substantiated.
