Abstract

The article describes some methodological features of the study of the economics of the mining industry in the context of national security. While in the study of the economics of the mining industry, especially in Russian-language literature, today the methodology of private economic sciences dominates, which, on the one hand, is a consequence of the objective process of deepening the division of labor of academic economists, on the other hand, it is not allows us to reveal the patterns of development of the mining industry as a single production complex (a subsystem of the economic system of society) and develop a strategy for its development that will help strengthen national economic security and the successful implementation of the goals of the country's socio-economic development. The nonrenewable nature of solid minerals and the uneven distribution of their reserves, the uniqueness and impossibility of replacing many raw materials, the discrepancy, including territorial, between supply and demand for them, large-scale and resource-intensive production, a high degree of vertical integration, close ties with other sectors of the economy, the economic and city-forming nature of enterprises all this determines the need, in the case of mining economics, to supplement classical industry analysis with political economic and macroeconomic methods. A number of patterns and dependencies have been identified, on the basis of which the priority directions for the development of the mining industry economy of the Republic of Belarus in the context of national security are determined.
